Hong Kong is one of the world’s great cities and a delightful realm of natural wonders and serene rural villages. With its wealth of cultural attractions, Hong Kong invites exploration and inspires interest to even the most experienced traveler. Sights include Museum of History – which houses a collection of archaeological finds and historic photographs providing an introduction to Hong Kong’s history. Cultural Center is the city’s newest performing arts venue. The Space Museum’s dome, where Omnimax shows and astronomy exhibits are featured, is nearby. Adjacent is the Museum of Art. Stanley Market is an open-air market for browsing and finding bargains in fashions, leather, porcelain, and linens. Jade Market is a specialty market featuring 450 stalls with jade items.

Hong Kong Heritage Tour - 4.5 hours - Hong Kong — Optional Private Excursions
Highlights:

  • Start with a visit to Tsang Tai Uk also known as Shan Ha Wai "Walled Village at the Mountain's Foot", is a Hakka walled village and one of the best-preserved. Shan Ha Wai gained its current name Tsang Tai Uk from locals when it housed displaced families after the Second World War.
  • A photo stop will be made at the Lo Wai Walled Village, the first walled village built by the Tang clan. The site was also declared a monument in 1997. Nearby is the Tang's Ancestral Hall, built in the 16th century, for clan rituals & ancestor worship.
  • Make a wish at Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree, a big banyan tree that is popular among local villagers who come to burn joss sticks and make wishes under it.
  • Next is a visit to a spectacular Tang dynasty-style Buddhist temple the Chi Lin Nunnery. This Buddhist nunnery is stunning with its monastery complex having been renovated as a piece of Tang dynasty architecture. The grand and elegant complex will surely become one of China's great cultural attractions in the years to come.

For mountain hiking and trekking, ascend to the Cleopatra's Needle, where wild rivers, lush forest and vibrant meadows all wait to be explored. Pass by the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, also known as the Floating Mosque due to its location near the water. While you may not have time to enter and explore the mosque, you can still appreciate its stunning architecture from the outside. Drive by the Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village, which showcases the history, culture, and heritage of Sabah. While you won't have time to visit the museum, you can see the architectural beauty of the building and the traditional houses in the Heritage Village from the road.

Pass by Gaya Street, one of the oldest and busiest streets in Kota Kinabalu. This historic street is known for its vibrant markets, colonial-era buildings, and lively atmosphere. While you won't have time to explore the street on foot, you can still see the bustling activity from the road.

Make a quick stop at Likas Bay, a picturesque waterfront area with views of the city skyline and the surrounding mountains. Take some time to enjoy the scenery, stroll along the promenade, and take photos of the bay and the iconic Likas Floating Mosque. Drive by the Sabah State Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Malaysia. While you may not have time to visit the mosque, you can admire its impressive architecture and minarets from the road.
