It was the capital of the country from 1139 to 1256 and its university was founded in 1290. Surrounding it in the old town are fine old churches and narrow streets standing on a hill overlooking the Modego River.

This wine estate is located in the surroundings of Aldeia Galega and it spreads over the sunny hills’ of Alenquer, a Delimited Region in the northwest of Lisboa. Its historical and excellent vineyards are known since the 16th century and have belonged to Diogo Duff, a brave Scottish man who received the "Tower and Sword" insignia, given by King João VI. Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva bought the estate in the 1980s and made significant investments in its 45ha of vineyard. The introduction of new cultivation methods has allowed the family to consolidate the quality and reputation of their wines.
 
In an accompanied visit, you can get to know the wine making technology and methods used in the Quinta to produce their elegant wines, learning every step of the wine process. After understand how the wines are produced, see for yourself how they are stored during the ageing process that gives them some of their most typical characteristic. Follows a private and lectured wine tasting, lectured by the responsible for the oenology department, Sandra Tavares da Silva, the daughter of the owners, or by the resident oenologist, so you can confirm the high quality of their product. The family will invite you for lunch at their house.
 
Sandra is making wines in both Estremadura and the Douro, which necessitates travelling between the two regions three times a week. Since then her day job has been as winemaker for Christiano Van Zeller at Quinta do Vale D. Maria in the Douro. In 2000 she began making wines from her parents Estremadura estate, at the Quinta you will visit. With their depth of fruit and fine structure these have rapidly established a reputation as being among the best of the appellation.

This estate belongs to the Álvares Pereira de Melo family for almost four centuries. In this House lived during over a year the Queen Leonor, third wife of King Manuel I, sister of the Emperor D. Carlos V and mother of Infanta Dona Maria.
 
Upon arrival at the estate, you will be welcomed by the master rider at the Riding Hall and you will have the opportunity to ride a Lusitano Stallion for a classical dressage lesson.
 
After this unforgettable experience, you will have time to taste their wines from the different varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir) as well as selected blends such as Padre Pedro, Herdade de Muge and Marquees of Cadaval. The house oenologist will lecture you on the “secret” flavours while you taste.

Today, with the assistance of your guide, visit the Sha'are Tikva (Gates of Hope) Synagogue. In 1871 the Jews of Lisbon were granted permission to build a synagogue, a dream not fully realized until the dedication of the Shaare Tikva in 1904. The synagogue served as the centre of Jewish life in Lisbon thereafter; it was a sanctuary for the thousands of Jewish refugees who passed through Portugal during World War II.

Up the winding stairway just inside the arch is the Rua da Judiaría, the central artery of the former Jewish quarter. The typical medieval houses have a narrow door that was the family entrance and a wider one that often housed the place of business, such as a shop or workshop.

The park skirts the coast of Pembrokeshire, beginning to the west of Cardigan and continuing almost to Pendine. It includes St. David's and the picturesque town of Tenby, with its magnificent beaches.

In addition to its coastal features, the park bows inland to include the Preseli Hills, which yielded the famous blue stones used in the construction of part of Stonehenge. The picturesque Gwaun Valley makes a lovely, lazy drive—best reached from the pretty village of Newport.

Small castles at Carew and Manorbier are well worth visiting, as are the lily ponds at Bosherston. A long-distance footpath tracks the coast for nearly 186 mi/299 km—one of the highlights is the miniature stone chapel of St. Govan's, set in a cleft beneath a cliff 10 mi/16 km south of Pembroke. There you can see a striking castle by the river where Henry Tudor, later Henry VII, was born.

Nature reserves on the islands of Skokholm and Skomer can be reached from Martins Haven.

Iona is a remote, low-lying, and treeless green island with high cliffs and rolling meadows. It lies off the southwestern coast of Mull across the Sound of Iona. It's only 1 mile by 3 1/2 miles. Staffa, with its famous musical cave, is a 75 acre island in the Inner Hebrides, lying to the west of Mull.

Loch Ewe is a small bay surrounded by rolling green hills. Garden lovers will enjoy visiting the elegant Inverewe Garden with a plant collection of international importance. There are a number of walking paths, mountain views, and picturesque landscapes for visitors to enjoy.

St. Kilda is a volcanic archipelago belonging to western Scotland, and it is now one of the country’s World Heritage Sites. The island is home to some of the biggest sea cliffs in Britain, and is known for the abundance of wild life including birds. St. Kilda now is an isolated island, however for thousands of years it was inhabited by locals that were forced to move out due to bad conditions, ruins of such villages are still standing today.

Tobermory, the primary town on the Isle of Mull, began as a fishing port during the latter part of the 18th century. However, in recent times the area has become an excellent destination for those interested in marine wildlife watching. The waters surrounding Mull are popular feeding grounds for dolphins, basking sharks and wales, Lucky visitors may also catch a glimpse of rare White-Tail and Golden Eagles that call the island home. Other popular sights in Tobermory include the Baliscate Standing Stones that still remain from one of the earliest settlements in the village, The Mull Museum and Aros Park.

Duart castle is on end the most spectacular and scenic sites on the West Coat of Scotland. Visitors can stroll through the dungeons and staterooms up to the top of the castle where it is easy to appreciate the beautiful scenery all around. Visitors will also learn the history of the Maclean clan and their 400 year history, which is much intertwined with Duarte Castle.

At the southern end of the Great Glen, this area's main town is Fort William, a major and well-resourced touring and route centre for the West Highlands. The area also takes in the Highland landscapes between Loch Linnhe, the major sea-loch at the south of the Great Glen, and the western seaboard itself. Douglas has been the capital, principal port, and ferry terminal of the island since 1869, the island itself having become a Crown possession in 1828. It gets its name from the Dhoo and Glass Rivers. Douglas, which developed around smuggling, now has light industry, tourism, the seat of the island's parliament, the Tynwald and House of Keys (oldest parliament in the world). Douglas boasts Castle Mona (1804), and the Tower of Refuge (1832), as well as the impressive Manx Electric Railway (1893) and Douglas horse-drawn trams (1876), both of which are still in service. Located along the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man and its wooded hills and jagged coastline offer some of the country’s most spectacular scenery. The island was once occupied by Celts who left behind Iron Age forts and huts. Though Romans never settled here, it is believed Celtic Christianity was introduced by St. Patrick and flourished from the fifth century to eighth century when Vikings conquered the island. On the island visit the Calf of Man bird sanctuary, and Castle Rushen at Castletown, the former capital.

Dublin enjoys one of the loveliest natural settings in Europe. Dublin attracts visitors from around the world with its old world charm and friendly atmosphere. Most of the architecture dates from the 18th century, when Dublin enjoyed great prominence and prosperity. Also of interest are stately Georgian houses which front Merrion Square. O'Connell Street is considered the commercial center of Dublin. Perhaps the most memorable feature of Dublin is the traditional pub, where visitors can enjoy conversation over fine Irish brew. The city also offers many fine parks, including St. Stephen's Green and Phoenix Park. National Gallery's renowned collection includes works by such famous masters as Rembrandt and Monet. Trinity College's Old Library is home to the most cherished treasure, the Book of Kells, a manuscript of the Gospels. Admire Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
